2022 PetValu Fast & Furriest Run & Walk
Join us Saturday, June 25th at 9:30am for a downtown fun run/walk in support of the LAWS (Lakefield Animal Welfare Society)
This is a great, family friendly run/walk through scenic downtown Peterborough. Participants are treated to a route featuring Del Crary Park, Beavermead Park, the new Canadian Canoe Museum and the Centenial Fountain. Options include a 10k, 5k & 1k for the kids, there's something for everyone. The courses are accurate, flat, fast and chip timed. We look forward to seeing you and helping support the pets in our community.

Location
Each run starts and finishes at Del Crary Park. 2 George St N.
Free parking is available on site and in the surrounding area.
Route
5k is one loop, 10k is 2 loops. The actual start lines are just outside Del Crary to ensure
both the 5k & 10k are accurately measured. See map below.
The 1k takes place entirely within Del Crary Park, see map below
Races & Fees
- 1k Kids Run, FREE (but you still have to sign them up)
- 5k Run & Walk, $40
- 10k Run, $45
- All prices increase incrementally as race day approaches
Fees increase by $5, 3 weeks before the event.
Online registration closes Thursday June 23rd at 6pm.
Race day registration available: $55 for 5k, $60 for 10k. $10 for the 1k.
Kids Stuff
Face Painting available on site! The 1k is a great, age appropriate event for kids 12 & under.The 1k never leaves the park so no traffic to worry about. Parents are welcome to run with their kids.
Fundraising
This event is a fundraiser for LAWS (Lakefield Animal Welfare Society). Participants are strongly encouraged to fundraise to support people in the communities served by LAWS.
We appreciate all fundraising efforts and intend to recognize our top fundraisers on the day of the event. Your support makes it possible for LAWS to continue supporting our communities.
In addition to all the support PetValu is contributing they are also donating a can of cat food to LAWS for every participant in the event.
Start Times
10k, 5k start at 9:30am. Kids 1k Run begins at 10:30am Saturday June 25th
Start lines for the 5k & 10k will be on George St. and will be aprox. 180m apart to ensure each course is accurate. Don't worry, it will be very well marked and explained.
Race Kit Pick-up
Race kits can be picked up from 11am-5:15pm on Friday June 24th at Runner's Life, 174 Charlotte St.
Race kits will also be available morning of the race from 8am-9am
Awards
Awards will be given out to the top three in each of the 1k, 5k & 10k runs for male and females.
Male and Female Winners in the 1k, 5k & 10k will receive FREE New Balance Shoes!

SplitsTiming will provide chip timing for each event.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I run with my dog?
You would think so right? But no, unfortunately our insurance won't allow this. Sorry, we know your fur baby is your favourite running partner but they're going to have to sit this one out. You can tell them what you did for there friends when you get home.
Where can I park?
Limit free parking is available at Del Crary. Additional parking is available in the area.
What time should I arrive?
At least 1 hour prior to race time. You need to park, turn in your donations, pick up your race kit (if you haven't already), get your timing chip, use facilities, listen to pre-race instructions, and warm up. Time will fly by.
Will we have access to washrooms prior to race?
There will be 2 full service city washrooms on site open to the public.One by the Art Gallery and one by the marina..
What’s a timing chip and where do I put it?
Your 'chip' is an electronic ankle bracelet that will record your time when you cross the timing mat. You put it on your ankle, it’s easy to put on and take off with the Velcro. You will not even know it’s on your leg. Please return your chip after your race!
What’s in my race kit?
In your 'kit' you will have a bib (number), pins, some brochures from sponsors and some coupons from some of our local establishments.
What is a bib?
Your bib is your race number. Pins will be provided for you to attach to the front of your shirt. If you signed up early enough, it will be personalized!
Where should I put my belongings when I race?
The parking lot is close enough for you to leave all belongings, especially valuables in your car. Once you are finished your run, its close enough to retrieve anything you may need.
Please note: there is no secure place for you to keep your belongings at the race site. Organizers are not responsible for your belongings.
Can I run with my child for the 1k?
Yes!
Is there a water station on the course?
You bet! About half way through the 5k loop is a waterstation at Beavermead Park.
Can I volunteer?
We would love to have you volunteer, check out some of pics from previous volunteers. Communtiy Hours available.
